My favorite part of building the lore was creating culturally diverse mythical tribes with rich histories and unique emotional relationships to each other. This effects the players alliances and whether they need more charisma and/or disguises in some biomes.
Original IP: Ashes of Tannazar is a mythical open-world action RPG in which players assume the role of a young exiled princess (Zahara) on a quest to find her sister and master a forbidden magic to exact vengeance against The Reins, the merciless oligarchy that murdered her mother.

Legend of Xavi: Demo in Production
My Role: Pitching, Environmental Storytelling, World Map Design, Quest Design, Lore and World Building, Narrative Design Documentation
Problem: In a cooking game set in the afterlife centered around inner peace, how will the player hunt and kill for their ingredients?
Narrative Solution: Instead of traditional hunting, the plants and animals in Legend of Xavi are spirits, so the player will be capturing their essence as ingredients.
Original IP: In this cozy adventure RPG, a villain who is killed in another life wakes up on a strange island in between earth and the afterlife with no memories of their past and something peculiar... a cookbook written in hieroglyphs. They must build a new life where alchemy, cooking, and exploring the island’s ruins and inhabitants is the key to unearthing their mysterious origins and forging a path to redemption. If given this second chance, would they still be a villain? The choice is yours.

My Role: Branching Dialogue Writer
I loved creating morally ambiguous branches that show the protagonist finding her footing as an early career female cop in the underbelly of the city.
Narrative Context: Mara (avatar) is an underdog space cop looking for a murder weapon, a plasma blaster. Ajax (NPC) is a weapons dealer who is suspicious of saying anything incriminating.
BARK SHEET

Barks are so. much. fun. and having grown up in a Disney movie house, it was a blast pulling from existing IP.
Narrative Context: Imagine Yzma from Emperor’s New Groove as an FPS hero. Pull the lever!
ANCILLARY WRITING
My Role: Writer
Ancillary writing is one of my favorite experiences both as a player and as a writer, being able to add texture to the character and voice of the world.
I treat it as a way to craft an emotional experience for the player that feels almost like a secret they’re being let it on. Letters and diary entries are among my favorites to write.
Narrative Context: When humanity emerges from generations underground, a researcher chronicling their first days on the surface must search for a missing expedition amid a beautiful, sentient world that may be far more dangerous than imagined.

Characters are the heartbeat of games. I love creating morally ambiguous characters who can be a mirror into the inner world of the player, and/or a guide into the deeper parts of humanity.
